You Look S.T.U.N.ing! - Euge/Ivy/pretty much all of ACME

"Alpha team, you are good to go. Blackout is on, blackout is on." Eugene Grovington's voice crackled through the communicator to the team on the ground.

Ivy Monaghan exhaled, "Alright agents, we've cut the major power source going into the base, but that doesn't mean all communications are down. You know what to do. Radio silence from now until I give the call... and watch the readings from your suits."

If ever there was a literal meaning to the phrase 'following Carmen to the ends of the earth', it was happening right now, on the icy plains of Antarctica. Alpha team consisted of 12 agents handpicked by Chase Devineaux. Among the them was Calina Corranos, the team's demolitions expert; Nevon Blair, a bright student who started slow, but seemed to gain the Director of Operation's seal of approval; Daniel Ainsworth, charged with ensuring the safe use of the ACME S.T.U.N. suits; Sharpshooter Samyle Fleur Regard; Tanya Erzin their resident femme fatale; and the very unlikely Lee Jordan... detective turned villain turned informant. Ivy and Lee had a bad history, one she found hard to forget. But situations like these called for her to be level headed, and if Chase trusted him, she would--despite her experience--trust him too.

There was a small window of time to get this done, and if successful it would mean the largest raid in ACME history, and the end of V.I.L.E.'s reign as a crime syndicate. As Alpha team paced through the snow to what they calculated as the least populated section of V.I.L.E. HQ, the S.T.U.N. suits relayed information from one wearer to another. S.T.U.N. stood for Stealth Tactical Unit Nanosuit, an extremely advance mix of technology from ACME labs. It was in development over the course of three decades, but according to Bran Brychanson and Daniel Ainsworth, crucial pieces were only completed after Carmen's theft of the original ACME tower.

The team stopped before a large wall, half covered in ice.

"Alpha 3, you're up." Ivy pointed to the structure.

Calina nodded in acknowledgement. After a short inspection, she expertly placed a breaching charge on the weakest spot.

Immediately, Ivy's HUD flashed a chemical trace warning. The ACME S.T.U.N. suit also created a barely audible high pitch sound to indicate that she wasn't entirely clear of possible explosive debris. Stepping back, the sound ceased--only to be followed by a magnificent pressurized burst of metal being thrown against metal.

"Here we go." She whispered.

ACME S.T.U.N. suits and helmets were blanked in Organic Light Emitting Diodes. When activated the OLEDs would project a calculated high resolution image of what was immediately behind the wearer, an effect that rendered agents nearly invisible while stationary and a very hard target when moving. This was an expensive technology, and therefore scaled down by Bran Brychanson at the first S.T.U.N. suit production. The one Commander Monaghan wore however, was still an advanced prototype.

For this reason, Ivy went in first.

She ran ahead to secure the farthest corner with Tanya close behind. Alpha team stormed in briskly after in pairs, and within the second, ACME had taken each corner, from the closest to the furthest. This created a semi circle perimeter with utility launchers fanning in opposite directions, the red dots from their EOTech Holographic lasers marking everything in immediate sight.

"Clear." Ivy confirmed, as she turned off her active camouflage.

"Thee clear." She heard Calina's voice.

"Six clear." ...and then Tanya's.

The moment Ivy entered V.I.L.E.'s Antarctic base, she felt uneasy. As heat escaped the breached entrance, V.I.L.E. HQ's reinforced interior walls began shielding in matte frost. It was almost ghostly... and it was too quiet. She turned and saw Tanya, who had the same look on her face. Her too? What was wrong here? Ivy didn't expect to catch Carmen in her nightgown, but this was a major base. Someone had to be on alert.

She signaled for radio use.

On cue, Daniel and Nevon began setting up a small hexapodal spider-robot. The mechanical creature had six black oxide titanium legs that allowed it to climb most surfaces, and perhaps more importantly the ability to reorient itself when flipped. As a plus, the drone was near silent, and would relay basic video and sound back to the control system in ACME's aircraft where Eugene Grovington was keeping an eye on the team... and on Lee Jordan.

Daniel Ainsworth tested the first message, "Yankee, this is Eleven. Radio check, over."

"Eleven, this is Yankee. I read you five by five. out."

Ivy smiled upon hearing the pilot's voice. Within the months of training, that confirmation had come to signify that everything was working right. She appreciated knowing that he was watching over the team, probably more than was professional and definitely more than she would willingly admit.

The interiors of VILE HQ's could be compared to the hull of an aircraft carrier. It looked to be made of steel, but the walls were sprayed in an insulated off-white foam that kept heat within. As Alpha team passed through they saw metal doors that led to bunk rooms and a large cafeteria.

"I always wonder what V.I.L.E. ate." Nevon relayed as they passed an empty buffet line.

"Looks like they make a lot of pasta." Dan replied, referring to several unbranded bags of dried penne.

Nevon nodded, "you mean, 'made' a lot of pasta. No one's here anymore."

It was becoming apparent that V.I.L.E. had already made their escape. This was a possibility that ACME command had discussed, and in that event the mission's status would be changed to information gathering. Leaving the cafeteria the agents came upon a fork in the hallway that caused a telltale fizzle of static to build up on their communication frequency.

Eugene was the first to speak up, "Alpha--" a part of his message was cut off, "--ting a lot of interference "

Daniel, being quick to respond to technical requests immediately pulled up the incomplete map. Half of this information was gathered right on site from the drone, the other half from the research of Inspector Eleanor Mayhem. It showed that the thicker walls could contain electrical systems to degrade the signal, but that wasn't nearly enough. V.I.L.E. was most likely ready for this, and planted radio frequency jammers as a failsafe for when the power went down.

"We'll need to split up. Alpha 6, take 7 through 12 down that hall with the drone. If you see anyone, don't engage, and report back here. Your main objective is to find a signal jammer and disable it." Turning to the remainder of her team she continued, "You six come with me."
