An Old Reunion - Xandar/Chase

Eeeeeeeppp!! This was supposed to be up about 3 months ago! I'm SOOOOO SORRY!!!! This was done over email between myself and Chase. Permission granted to post this by both parties.  School got in my way and I completly forgot about it until I saw the collab between Zack/Ivy. So now its finally up. I'm sorry!

While others were using pistols to shoot at their targets, De Luca decided to use the primitive gun:  a bow.  His left hand held the bow while the other was left at his side. In a familiar motion, he took an arrow from his quiver and loaded it on the bow.  He aimed at the target and pulled the string back to its maximum pull before letting it go.

It hit the target. It was also neatly placed right above his other shot.
Xander smiled and was about to grab another arrow when he placed his free hand on his right knee.

“Ow…”

He bent his knees then lifted his right foot slightly off the ground.  His bad ankle was cramping. He turned his back to the target and leaned against the table- bow still in hand.  The archer’s ankle was still slightly elevated off of the ground.

“Crap… cramp…”

"Pull your arms up higher," Chase instructed a trainee inside the shooting range, "You see where the recoil gets you?" He tapped the agent's extended elbow, "Keep that straight."

Looking into another section of the range, he noticed the glint of a silver bow.  It was strange enough to see the rare agent or two practicing archery, but that bow was very distinctive.  A Damascus Steel Bow, Chase knew, because he had purchased one of similar design for a friend.  A fact that made him realize even the figure holding the bow looked familiar.

"Practice," the field director said to his agent, "I'll see you in a bit." Walking towards the boy with the bow, Chase noticed the name on the roster for the room wasn't one he recognized.  Being discrete, he waited until 'Xander' had stopped shooting before he spoke.

"Tu es tireur d'élite," the compliment was genuine, "Ça fait un bail qu'on s'est pas vu."

"Merci, Capitanne" Xander responded to the compliment given.  He looked up at his superior and flashed a familiar smug expression to him.

"What brings you to the shooting range today?" He adjusted his bow so that the front was directly facing in Devineaux's direction.

Chase recognized the voice and the bow, more importantly, he recognized the expression.  This was the same archer he had met several months ago, one that aided him in two separate missions, both of them with former agent 'Eleanor M'.  A part of Devineaux noted how lucky Agent 'Missy Wayward' was to have already gotten her Special Operations rank without needing to additionally hide from 'Xander', formerly known as 'Sayte'.

"When did you get back?" he happily extended a welcome handshake, "and you're sticking with 'Xander' now?"

Xander returned the handshake followed by a hi-five. He still hated formalities.

"Yeah, I don't see a need to hide behind an Alias. I should just keep everything in one name though- helps keep the Income Tax forms simple... took you long enough to realize it was me eh?"

Xander laughed. He had betted with a few of his friends to see how long Chase would recognize him. Xander won.

While he wasn't sure how long it actually took him to recognize a former team mate, Chase was willing to admit that he had been letting things slide.
"Glad you kept the bow," he nodded, "are you settled down, working under Chief?"

Xander nodded."I'm settled down, but I'm here because I need work during school break- I'm back there at a few weeks, but this time I will be on call. I've already spoken to the Cheif, and I'm working under him at the moment."

He smiled at the comment about the bow."How would I not keep the bow? Its too awesome- its the best present I've gotten yet."

He checked his watch- it was nearly lunch. "Want to continue this over lunch?"

Things looked good for the Archer.  Chase Devineaux remembered the two cases he had with Xander De Luca, then known as Sayte.

Looking at his watch, he realized it was near lunch and he could afford to cancel a few of his early afternoon meetings for an old friend.

"Lunch it is," Chase nodded in agreement, "have you seen the new ACME Cafeteria?"
