Chase Devineaux + E=MC2= ?

For: Anyone

[A story that follows Jewelry Bonney as she adjusts to life under ACME, chases Chase Devineaux and derails into a battle of Egos against a certain magic based enemy and his cohorts]

1 Strange-Fate

Jewelry Bonney also known as Strange-Fate wiped sweat from her forehead. She would rather carve out her own guts than admit she was nervous. After all she was inside Acme HQ home to some of the best in the business. But her thoughts were interrupted by the sudden fact she still needed to get Achilles to her room. Plus interacting with Agent Nevon might soon become awkward if he found out Achilles's and hers secret. But at least after she dropped of Achilles she'll get food and see some of Chase Devineaux's hideouts. But for now on to the task at hand.

((Ace start, mate!))

Pete got his can of pop from the refrigerated vending booth and drowned it quickly.  He was thirsty from lastnight's ..... very long... study period.  The Australian chuckled a bit at himself.  He was lying even in his head about the harmless ACME dorm parties that everyone and their mentor already knows about.

"Le'me help you with that, Shiel?" Pete turned his cap around backwards and offered the new girl a hand with her giant pot.  The ACME correspondent from Sydney hadn't ever seen anyone that owned a cauldron, let alone named it.

3 Strange-Fate

"No thanks. I doubt you could lift it." Strange-Fate answered coldly to the well-meaning agent's offer. And it was true enough for Achilles weighed several tons, what with all the stuff he carried. The only reason she was having a tough time was because she wasn't used to moving him and Achilles didn't like change.

"Besides you should introduce yourself to a lady before offering to share her burden." she said matter-of-factly, though she was only messing with the agent.

4 Nevon

Nevon realized the new girl was right, no one introduced themselves yet.

"For starters, I'm Nevon Blair, you can call me Nev," he said, "I'm in Room 301.  And this is Pete Moss, he's bunking with Danny Ainsworth in room 303."
"I have to go get a new card for my ACME communicator," Nev pointed to the device in his hand, "I'll wait for you guys down stairs when you're done with putting Achilles away."  He headed for the elevator.

5 wesdon

"Ai mate, that's me, Pete," the Australian smiled putting his cap around the right way, "you wanna me to stand and watch while you drag that pot to your room?"

6 Strange-Fate

"Achilles is not a pot. He is a Cauldron, there is a difference. And I don't care what you do." Strange-Fates mood was becoming more and more volatile as Achilles had increased his weight which was his way telling her to hurry up. "But ifyou wish to be helpful guide me to Rm 1313 because I can't reach the map."

7 wesdon

((Mates, I'm looking at the Dorm map, and there isn't a room 1313, but I'll just pretend there is, no one's gonna kill me, ai?))

"Right this way, madam" Pete said.  Her telling him that pot wasn't a pot made him want to call it a pot all the more, but Pete resisted the urge to add 'watch your Pot' to the conversation and resigned himself to pointing directions.

Everytime he tried to help move the heavy cauldron, he felt like it didn't like being touched, so he mostly left it be.  When they got to the room, he waited for the girl to get settled then talked again.

"What's your specialty, Shiel?"

8 Strange-Fate

Strange-Fate put Achilles down with a loud thud. And drew herself to her full height which resulted in a loud *crack!*. "I swear he goes directly out of his way to make things difficult for me" She said aloud. Strange-Fate barely caught the question her guide asked of her. She wondered how much she should tell;

"Tracking, explosives and guns." She answered promptly.

9 Nevon

While the other two were talking, Nevon was at the lobby of the dorms with his communicator.  He had gone to the service center and one of the techies transferred whatever information they could from the old card to a new one. That solved his "error: reinsert card" warnings.  Now he was just playing Pacman.

That new girl is weird, Nevon thought while Pacman was eating a cherry, what kind of detective needs a cauldron? Nev's head reinacted a scene of three detectives, Ivy, Nina, and this Jewelry Bonney girl around a cauldron chanting like witches and dressing like it was Halloween.  He chuckled lightly "awesome..."

10 Strange-Fate

"Now if you'll excuse me agent Wes. I must get to work. But before you go here, take one and give the other to Nevon." Strange-Fate handed to agent Wesdon what looked to be two Playing Cards. Each card depicted her in a different action pose with a different handgun and her name on the bottom of the picture.

"Use these if you wish to contact me. Just place your hand over either the picture or the name and either say my name or say it in your mind. If I answer a projection of me should appear right in front of you. Thank you for your help and see ya." Strange-Fate after handing Wesdon the strange gift pushed him out the door and locked it.

"Whew! That was close. Are you happy now Achilles? We're all settled in." Jewelry Bonney adressed the chauldron.

"It's about time! Not telling you what and how to do things is worse than death."  Achilles responded. "By the way why didn't you tell them your other specialty?" He asked. "Because. My skill in Alchemy must remain a secret from everyone. After all it's such a sensitve thing. Like religion and Politics." She replyed drily. "So you don't intend on telling anyone? Even that Chase fellow?" Achilles demanded slyly. Jewelry Bonney remained silent. Achilles sniggered.

"Alright enough! Remember why we are here. To catch Emmesey Squire and his cohorts!" She shouted at the Cauldron. "Oh, and Carmen Sandiego too." She added as an afterthought.

11 wesdon

In the hallway, Pete the Australian was looking dumbly at the cards in his hand.  That was awkward, he pocketed the two cards and headed to where Nevon said he would be waiting.

"Ai, Nev," Pete nudged his friend, sat down, and gave him Strange-Fate's card.  After repeating the instructions, he went on, "I think I might 'av heard her talking to the pot, mate..." Pete started dialing his roomate, Daniel Ainsworth, "I gota ask Dan if he's hearing voices too."

12 Nevon

Nevon stopped playing Pacman when Pete showed up to give him the card and tell him about its ability to call Strange-Fate.  He then watched his friend worry about being crazy.

"This card is probably temporary, Pete," Nevon suggested, "maybe she hasn't been assigned a communicator and number yet."

"And then maybe she's just trying to fit in," he added, "I heard her say she wanted to find Chase Devineaux, she probably just wants a mentor, like I did when I started out here." Nevon actually started ACME recently, and has made it his personal goal to win Detective Devineaux's approval.

13 Strange-Fate

"Well what next?" Achilles asked Jewelry Bonney. "We add our new friends to the files." She replied, holding out two vials containing hairs belonging to the two agents who had offered to help her. "Old Lightning hands strikes again." Achilles said fervently. Jewelry grinned and poured the contents of the vials into Achilles.

A few minutes later she came out of her room to find Nevon. Since she could easily track him down anywhere it didn't take her long to find him.

14 wesdon

Pete looked up quizzically hearing Nevon talk like he's been at ACME for ages and something about Mr. Devineaux.  Plenty of detectives around the dorms talk about Chase Devineaux. Gesa isn't the only one that has a girly fancy on him, and Nevon's hero worship of him is common, except Nev might be a little more than everyone else's.  Pete has never met Mr. Devineaux face to face, but he had seen him around, about once.

He sees Strange-Fate coming and put away his communicator, he'll ask Danny later about hearing voices. "Ai Shiel," he greeted, "ready to eat?"

15 Strange-Fate

"Indeed." Strange-Fate replied. A thought had occurred to her, "I wonder if Chase would be impressed if I caught the Jersey Devil?" she wondered aloud.

16 Nevon

Nevon blinked at Strange-Fate with both disbelief and a teeny bit of jealousy.  Could she really capture the Jersey Devil? And if Nev could do the same, would Chase be impressed with him too?

The idea played a scene in Nev's head of trying to catch a winged horse-like creature, but he was unsuccessful even in his day dream.  "Dang," Nevon said, disappointed.  "Okay, let's go eat.... we'll start with the Main Building's Cafeteria."

Leading his friends, the rookie already had an idea of what he wanted, grilled cheese burger and curly fries.

Daniel Ainsworth was at the Main Building Cafeteria when he received a call from Pete Moss, his roommate.  With his hands holding a steel metal tray, he bumped his wrist communicator against a nearby counter to answer.  As soon as he had opened communication, however, Pete hung up, leaving Danny to fumble with the new voice dialing module.

"Call Roomie."  Danny yelled into his wrist.

The communicator beeped, and replied in an electronic female voice, "Did you say… call Mommy?"

"What? No!"

The communicator beeped confirmation, "calling..."

"No, no!  Stop Call. Stop Call. Cancel.  Hang up!"

Danny finally found a clear table to rest the tray on, and hit the cancel button.  It was then that he saw some familiar faces entering the cafeteria.

"Hey! Pete! Nev!"  He greeted.

18 wesdon

Pete followed Nevon in and greeted Dan, who was yelling at his communicator.  It looked like something that happened time and time again, enough for most detectives to ignore.  "You should turn the voice function off by now, mate," Pete said, "could ya imagine if that started calling someone random while you're on a case."

Pete laughed a bit then introduced the new girl to his roomate.  "This's.....," he let his voice trail off figuring she's never mentioned her name. Was it written on her card? He wasn't sure.  Taking it out, he read her name outloud "Jewelry Bonney," then he pocketed the card again, "she's new to the dorms."

19 Nevon

[OOC: Guys, it's such a coincidence the "El Halcon Unpacks" RP is in the cafeteria too, but looks like we're not there when they are?  I know Nev doesn't wake up that early. ... ..]

"She has a cauldron too," Nevon added, "it's cool."

He looked around the cafeteria, lots of people here, but no Chase.

"I'm getting my cheese burger," he pointed to the place where they have them, "be right back!" Nev practically slithered to get his lunch.

20 DetectiveAwesome

Danny wondered if 'cauldron' was slang for something, but Nevon was already on his way to get a cheeseburger before he could ask.  Aside from that, her trading cards hinted that she might actually be some kind of famous athlete.

"Nice name, Jewelry Bonney."  He said, extending his hand.  "I'm Danny.  What brings you to ACME?"

21 Strange-Fate

"Thank you. And as for my being here it is strictly for family business and for me to meet Chase." Jewelry replied accepting the handshake. "Now if you'll excuse me there's eats to be eaten."

And with that she strode over to the food, loaded a massive pile on her tray walked to a table and began eating like a combination of a Monster and a Devil Hyena. To Jewelery Bonney table manners, proper eating habits, self-control and restraint were non-existent when she was hungry. Anybody who tried to correct her always suffered strange fates.
